Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, is a process through which you are able to speak confidentially and without judgment about your personal difficulties. Different types of psychotherapy have been clinically proven effective at alleviating symptoms of various emotional problems, such as depression, anxiety, and excessive stress or anger. It can also help with issues related to self esteem, life transitions, and interpersonal relationships. Individual psychotherapy sessions are conducted one on one with a licensed therapist, and are typically held one or more times per week. Sessions with me are 45 minutes in length.
We will discuss the mode of therapy that best suits your needs and goals. I utilize psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness based techniques in my practice. Treatment may, for example, involve equipping you with more effective coping strategies, helping to change self defeating thoughts and behaviors, or providing emotional support through a crisis. It may also consist of exploring memories and emotions outside of your conscious awareness that may be affecting the quality of your life. Psychotherapy is ultimately a process of self-discovery and self-realization.
